Getting To Know Olivia

We asked Olivia some questions about her life as a traveller;

What is your favourite destination and why?

So far, it would have to be the island of Boracay in the Philippines. It was beautiful, something that resembled paradise (if there is one, that is) that I couldn’t believe it actually existed. The waters were so blue, very clear, and the white sands were so fine, like sugar.

Tell us your scariest travel experience?

I think when we were in Burg Eltz on the Mosel part of Germany. We were on our way back to our hotel in Cochem when we realized we couldn’t hike back the way we came because a recent rainfall made the trail slippery. Instead we had to walk several miles on a somewhat deserted route we knew nothing about. We were offered a ride by this nice German couple, but I was scared at first because they were strangers and I had never hitchhiked before. However, they were the real deal—friendly and helpful; we ended up exchanging postcards a few months later.

If you could only give one single travel tip that you think would be the most helpful what would it be?

Take things in stride. No matter how carefully you planned your trip beforehand, some things are bound to go awry. It’s crucial to have a happy and optimistic mindset and attitude. Embrace each change, each circumstance, and always look on the bright side of things and what you can learn from each experience.

What is your favourite travel related quote?

He who would travel happily must travel light. - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

What advice you would give someone wanting to become a travel blogger?

Blogging is hard work. From the time you start thinking about the right blog name to the time it takes to write the blog, it’s a constant work. You have to be passionate, dedicated and persevering. It’s important that you understand your purpose in blogging from the beginning so that you can set reasonable goals that you can meet.
