Art is no longer confined to museums and private art galleries. Travellers can appreciate artists' works while standing in a queue for their next flight connection. With airports now committing more to art spaces, here are the latest exhibitions around the globe that might catch your eye.

Chattanooga Airport, Tennessee

The Cha Art Space is a modular exhibit space located in the ticketing area. Its latest juried show titled "Summer" is curated by local artist Carrie Pendergrass and features the work of 18 local and regional artists.

The exhibition marks the 11th instalment since the project's debut three years ago and is the first to reflect a newly formed collaboration with the Association for Visual Arts. This partnership allows Cha Art Space to operate as a satellite project of AVA's programming.

Artists were invited to engage all their senses and translate their interpretations of summer into visual art. The show reflects the diverse feelings and moments of the season, showcasing a variety of artistic approaches in media, style and price, said officials.

Incheon Airport, Korea

Incheon International Airport has launched a new media art exhibition in partnership with The Korea Arts Management Service. The "Ghost Out of the Machine" exhibition showcases 16 works from eight artists and art teams. They are located at nine different entry and departure gates inside the airport's Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

The "ghost" in the exhibition's title alludes to the "new types of identities" formed along the airline network, which "connect the sky, cities, people and buildings," the Korea Arts Management Service said.

McAllen International Airport, Texas

Taking an opportunity to mark Hispanic Heritage Month, the airport will be hosting a photography exhibit. The exhibit, Maya Heritage: Past, Present, Future, features images that highlight symbolic elements and cultures of various countries from Mexico and Central America.

The opening was celebrated with McAllen airport officials and the Consulates of El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico.

Düsseldorf Airport, Germany

The airport has created an Art Walk exhibition featuring the works of renowned artists from the city and the Rhine-Ruhr region.

The airport's Media Manager Tankred Stachelhaus said Art Walk, which is on display until November 3, features artists including Gereon Krebber and Matthias Schamp.

Art Walk, which aims to celebrate strong regional ties, includes pieces at various locations across the airport.

Hong Kong International Airport

(HKIA) Arts and Culture Festival 2024, being hosted until October 31, is a series of art exhibitions to be presented in the terminal.

The festival will feature displays of artworks by Hong Kong artists and talents, showcasing their creativity while promoting Hong Kong's unique culture to travellers from around the globe.

The Airport Authority Hong Kong has partnered with M+, MobArt Gallery, the Art Promotion Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, and the Hong Kong Arts Centre to present art exhibitions that highlight the diversity of the local arts scene.

Vivian Cheung, Acting Chief Executive Officer of AAHK, said: "As the gateway to Hong Kong, HKIA stands as an ideal venue to showcase the diverse cultural landscape of our vibrant city. The Arts and Culture Festival will enrich the journey of every traveller passing through the airport."

The festival will include four exhibitions spanning diverse themes, from traditional crafts to digital arts. Local traditional craftsmanship, long recognised as Hong Kong's intangible cultural heritage, is presented with life-sized replicas of items such as bamboo steamers as well as mahjong tiles.

Visitors will also be able to explore a series of gongbi paintings, traditional Chinese paintings exquisitely outlining natural beauties, which have been transformed via multimedia digital technology into dynamic visuals and interactive artworks at the Ground Transportation Centre.

In addition, more than 20 watercolour paintings by the renowned local artist Kong Kai-ming, depicting Hong Kong's natural beauty are being showcased in the Departures Hall.

Singapore Changi Airport

The airport has unveiled the world's largest-ever display of sunflowers at an airport, with some larger-than-life sculptures being eight metres tall. 'A Sunflower Sojourn' features over 5,000 sunflowers of more than ten exquisite varieties, arranged at over 20 locations across all four terminals.

At the Departure Halls of Terminals 2 and 3, visitors will be treated to stunning floral displays featuring larger-than-life sunflower topiary sculptures, towering at five and eight metres tall, respectively.

From the classic bright yellow 'Sunrise', to the rare red and yellow 'Florenza' and the delicate pastel pink 'Strawberry Blonde', all these blooms are grown in the airport's own plant nursery.
